Anne Frank Act 2 Comment 2
May 28, 2009
After reading the whole Anne Frank, I thought it ended up very sad, as they did get caught under a horrible circumstance. Everyone in the annex not knowing anything for three days. After a series of horrible events, Mr. Van Daan being caught stealing food from everyone, it was just sad for it to end that way, I wish could’ve helped her(Anne Frank) in some way.
Anne Frank Act 2 Comment 1
May 28, 2009
When I finished reading half way through the second act, everyone seems to be getting further away from each other like Anne and her mother, all sorts of problems are being brought up such as everyone getting thinner from the recent food shortages. Some workers are black-mailing Mr. Kraler to making him pay more or as so if they thought. I find things sort of interesting now, as all sorts of things are being brought up from small things to big things.
Anne Frank Act 1 Comment 2
May 28, 2009
After finishing reading the whole act 1, the life of Anne Frank, seems complicated with an extra person coming in, and the food shortages, everyone seems to be at their top, and I sense that somethings going to happen like something major. Though in the end Anne sorts of bring everyone together by making a mini Hanukkah, and everyone is happy despite the fact that, a thief has been found and if he were to be caught by the police then things could go completely grim for them.
Anne Frank: Act 1 Comment 1
May 28, 2009
Well so far after reading half way through Act 1, I’ve had a small insight of Anne’s life in the secret Annex, and to come to think of it its not that bad. After all thinking of all the other Jews who got sent to concentrations camps in those days. The characters so far have a unique way, like Peter is a pretty shy guy, while Anne is a sort of hyphed person. So all of their characteristics sort of mirror each others another example is Mrs. Van Daan who talks a lot and surely stirs up some trouble, while Ms.Frank sort of has to deal with her behaviour not saying a word, its just her little style.
Poetry
April 2, 2009
Well I feel that poetry is one of the most important things to know and learn in life. Poetry can mean many things from expressing yourself to a little joke, or a story. Personally I like poetry its fascinating how its written, and there are many ways of writing poetry such as in a sonnet form, haikou, or limerick.
I also feel that poetry can help us understand a great deal things better through reading like if a sonnet were to be about the earth and how rivers flow and the wind blows then we can know things like this through reading the sonnet.
Paint Ball
April 2, 2009
Paintball is a game frequently played by kids aged from 9 to adults. Paintball is usually played with 3-5 or 7 a side depending on how big the arena is and if its a tournament or not. There is usually 1 main objective like capturing a flag, eliminating certain player on each side, or eliminating every player on the other side.
The equipment used for paintball is a mask which is necessary for facial protection, and a gun usually, some people prefer to have paintball jerseys and a set of pants that goes a long but thats just up to you.
There are a few rules to the game of paintball overshooting is when you have already eliminated a player, but you still are shooting at him or her, this is necessary if the opponent continues to shoot after they are eliminated. Though there is a penalty for the eliminated player who chooses to shoot, 2 more players are sent off with him or her if they happen to be caught doing so. One more rule is Blind-firing which is very disliked by players as you could accidentally hit a referee, a player who had taken their mask off or even hit a random target, blind firing is when you are hiding in a corner with your gun showing out of the corner and you spraying bullets around the place. Another rule is called Ramping which is to increase your rate of fire like fore example I have a gun which fires at the rate of 10 BPS(bullets per second) and I electronically change the BPS to a higher rate say 14 BPS using my marker (paintball gun). One last rule is called wiping, wiping is when you are shot and u wipe off the paint mark, this rule is commonly broken by players, if they are caught right away then the penalty might not be as severe.
Merry Making and your learning
March 30, 2009
Now that you’ve finished reading the entire text of Twelfth Night, have viewed several performances (including film, stage, and those of your classmates), and contributed to your own performance within this silly play, it’s time to look back and consider where you’ve been.
How important is merry-making in society? This was our central unit question — now that you’ve studied a very silly play, complete with heaps of merry-making, what do you think? Is merry-making important? How? When? Why?
What do you know now, at the end of our unit, that you didn’t before? Perhaps you now know a couple of lines of Shakespeare. Or maybe you’ve learned how to better speak in front of an audience. Or perhaps you now know how to work better in a group. Or you know that having fun really is the most important part of creating a play. Or you’ve learned that creativity requires long periods of time in order to “get into it.” Whatever it is — please tell your readers what you’ve learned in our unit.
Well I think that merry-making is pretty important in general, it is important to have fun every once and a while. In our society i think it is very important so because without it I think that everyone would be all dull and bored which makes our society a boring one. I think we should have a little bit of merry making everyday so that we have fun as well as work.
I think that now I’ve learnt a decent amount of Shakespeare, whats it about and all. I have learnt better on how to form a play, work as a team more efficiently, and most of all to have fun.
The Great Wall of China
March 5, 2009
The great wall of China, one of the seven wonders of the world. It stretches at a overwhelming length of 6400 kilometers approx. During the wall’s construction and estimated of 2 to 3 million Chinese workers died. The walls sole purpose was to defend against mongols, and other warlords when China was not united. During the Ming dynasty the wall had 1 million soldiers patrolling from tower to tower. The wall was an exceptional advantage and boosted defences against the Manchus tribe or Mongols, but in 1644 one of the heavy fortified points of the wall failed against the Manchus which allowed the Manchus to come in and put the Ming dynasty to an end and establishing the Qing Dynasty.
Today the wall is a very popular tourist attraction area, but due to many wars and time parts of the wall had to be rebuilt and repaired or else a certain part would just collapse.
My Own Twelfth Night Production
March 5, 2009
If you were commissioned to design and direct a production of Twelfth Night, where would you set it? What would your Illyria look like? What would be your take on each character? What costumes, music, and special effects would you want?
If I were to design and direct Twelfth Night then I would probably set it somewhere modern, the place would need to have a large mansion, with like a maze garden and green basically lots of trees. I’d probably have the characters stay the same as they already are. For costumes maybe what we wear at school everyday, for the not so important people like Feste, and for the more important people like Orsino maybe he should wear a tuxedo or a suit so he looks proper. The music maybe it should be a mix some rap, some pop so its not too boring hearing the same thing over and over again. For special effects I don’t think there needs to be any of such.
How would you get each character off the stage in 5.1? Think about where they are going and how they feel. Do they stop and shake hands with other characters? Do they slink off or run off? This will be the last time the audience sees them. What impressions do you want to leave?
I think that at the end of scene 5.1 all of the actors could go to the front of the stage then hold hands and bow to the audience to leave the impression of that everyone is happy, the actors might feel happy, some sad like Malvolio who was set up. So that’s why I think that all the actors should do that at the end of the play.
Outside vs Inside
February 24, 2009
- Look carefully at Antonio’s speech in 3.4.316-321.
- Paraphrase it (put into your own words).
- Comment on it.
- Give some of your own examples of what he is talking about. Use experiences you’ve had, seen, or heard about.
2. How an evil sign shows you
You Sebastian, did nothing good which means shame
In Nature theres nothing except the mind
Nothing can be screwed except for the bad people
Virtue is nice but its a pretty evil thing
The empty trunks have been taken by the devil
3. Well Antonio’s speech is pretty clear and strong, it probably started Viola thinking that her brother Sebastian is alive and is somewhere.
4. Antonio talking about how he had been such a good person to Sebastian (or so who he thought who was Sebastian) and that now that he has been caught Sebastian is doing nothing to prevent it from happening. Well I haven’t seen much of things similar in this situation, except for when I was a little kid about 8 years old, my younger brother was 5. Well he drew on the table with his crayons and when my dad came home he suspected that is was all my fault and he wanted to talk to me about leaving messes around the house, so as I was being brought over to the living room I said to my brother sort of the same thing, but I was blaming him the whole time, then the talk came all my dad said was to not leave messes around the house, and once your done playing please clean it up. And that was my experience.
